(Haunted Palace) This film is actually based on The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, a novella by H. P. Lovecraft. The studio didn’t think Lovecraft was popular enough to draw audiences and Corman was known for his other Poe pictures so they tried to very loosely tie it to Poe instead.
